Bow Tie: Black h. Cuff Links: Miniature silver buffalo heads. 8. UNDRESS GREENS: RIFLE GREEN (Worn by Senior NCO's + Officers) a. Collar badge : Black metal buffalo head with red backing. b. Badges of rank : Black badges mounted on red. c. Boots: Black – half Wellingtons or shoes. d. Spurs: Silver (Mounted to half Wellingtons). e. Buttons: Black with crown and powder horn. f. Lanyard: Black. g. Kepi Cap: Green with black buttons. h. Badges: Large name badge, Voluntary badge & Shottest badge (proficiency badges). i. Medals: Ribbons are worn. 9. OLIVE GREEN JACKET Worn as per 1B: Ribbons in place of medals 10. THE KAFFRARIAN RIFLES ASSOCIATION AND REGIMENTAL BLAZER a. Blazer: Infantry Green (Regimental Blazer). b. Tie: Green with red pin stripes (Regimental Tie). c. Badge Pocket: Maltese cross (Silver or Gold). d. Lapel Badge: Miniature Silver or Gold Maltese Cross with Crown on top. 11. LANYARD 1. OC, 2IC, Adj., Int. Off:BlackCoy Cmdrs, QM and RSM:Lanyard to be worn on right side. :(Ex mounted) Whistle to be worn in outer side of right pocket shortest. 2. All other Officers and NCO's : Black Lanyard to be worn on left side. Whistle to be worn in outer side of left pocket – shortest 12. FORMAL DINNER 1. Mr Mess meets and welcomes all guests and dignitaries in Mess (Guest Speaker does not pay for drinks). 2. Mr Vice announces last round and Sherries are available 15 minutes before dinner. 3. Piper leads Mr Mess, Guest Speaker, OC, Guests and members into dining room. 4. Mr Vice advises Mr Mess when all are present (standing). 5. RSM and two Escorts march in the Regimental Colour. (all standing). 6. Mr Mess calls on Piper to drink – share a whisky toast. ( pay the piper). 7. Candles of Remembrance are lit by The Honorary Colonel. 8. Padre is called on to say grace. 9. All present are seated. 10. Dinner is served : Starter Soup Main Course 11.Wine is poured while soup is served. 12. All guests to proceed only after Mr Mess has initiated any course and start of wine. Once sweets are finished, everything is removed from the tables except for port glass and then port and ashtrays are placed on tables. 13. Port is opened at selected points at various tables. 14. Port is poured with right hand and passed around the glass with the right hand to the person on the left of the pourer. 15. Cigars are offered. 16. Once all glasses have been filled with port (water for non drinkers) Mr Vice calls on all to stand and proposes a toast to "The President" (All are requested to toast with right hand and drink with the left hand). 17. Mr Mess officially welcomes Guest Speaker and all guests. 18. Guest Speaker replies. 19. Mr Mess calls on OC to give annual report on Unit Activities. 20. OC gives report and hands out certificates, Medals and trophies etc. 21. Mr Mess calls on RSM to hand out NCO Trophy. 22. Mr Mess calls on Guest to toast the Unit. 23. Mr Mess thanks Guest Speaker. 24. Port decanters are corked. 25. Candles are extinguished. 26. Mr Mess calls on RSM and Escorts to remove Colours. 27. Mr Mess thanks all for joining and invites all to coffee and liquors in ante room. 28. Piper leads with Mr Mess, Guest Speaker, OC and guests following to Ante room. 29. RSM and Mr Vice Collect and replace all silverware in safe storage. 30. Fine Master to fine all perpetrators of various offences. OFFICER COMMANDING: THE BUFFALO VOLUNTEER RIFLES OC COMMENDATION CERTIFICATE AND CHEST BADGE This award is presented by the OC to serving members for outstanding service to the Regiment (also the SANDF) during operations and peace time. First Award - Black Second Award- Silver Three or more Awards- Gold Nutria badges to be worn on Nutria and Cammo ( Cammo - detachable – Unit lines only). Metal badges to have 60 mm x 20 mm red felt backing and to be worn above (left side) medals and ribbons on tunic and undressed greens. Miniature metal badges to be worn above miniature medals on mess dress without red backing. NB : Above Commendation Medal only to be worn in Unit lines or at function hosted by Unit outside HQ. RULES OF NCO'S MESS UNIT TOASTED WITH FIRST ROUND OF DRINKS. 1. Halt at entrance door and ask Mr Mess permission to enter Mess (in uniform and during camps only). 2. Greet Mr Mess, RSM and all senior leader group after entering. 3. If Mr Mess is not available, the highest ranking NCO, Officers. 4. Drink with the left hand only. 5. No politics, religion or ladies names to be mentioned. 6. No Flatuation. 7. No whistling. 8. No swearing in front of ladies or padre. 9. Don't ring bell. 10. Dress: Uniform – with all Regimental Regalia. 11. Offences points 4 to 9 are punishable with the purchase of a round of drinks for all present in the bar. 12.Civilian – Long pants, collar, tie or cravat RULES OF OFFICERS MESS UNIT I S TOASTED WITH FIRST ROUND OF DRINKS. 1. Halt at ante-room entrance door (a) Civvy – Bow to Colour and enter. (b) Uniform with beret – salute and enter. (c) Uniform without beret – Bow and enter. 2. Greet Mr Mess and OC and any other senior rank. 3. If Mr Mess is not available, the highest ranking Officer Officials. 4. Drink with the left hand only. 5. No politics, religion or ladies name to be mentioned. 6. No Flatuation. 7. No whistling. 8. No swearing in front of ladies or padre. 9. Dress: Uniform – With all Regimental Regalia. Civilian – Long pants, collar, tie or cravat. PARADE 1. At any Parade where the Regimental Colour is Paraded, The Parade Commander, Parade Sgt Major, RSM and Colour Party will drink a toast (Whisky or water) to the Regiment prior to the colours been taken on parade. 2. The toast will be drunk inside Regimental Head Quarters. 3. The Unit colours are NEVER carried/displayed during a practice parade. |
